iPhone 3GS Unboxing and Tour

Unboxing the Apple iPhone 3GS

The iPhone 3Gs was released in 2009 and it features the exact same design as the previous iPhone 3G released back in 2008.

Among the changes, the most noticeable is the substantial increase in speed and overall performance. The CPU has been improved from a 400 mhz CPU to a 600 Mhz ARM Cortex-A8. Also has RAM memory has been increase from 128mb to 256.

Besides the mind blowing increase in performance, you get an improved camera with a 3 MP sensor (upgraded from the 2MP sensor found in the 2008 iPhone 3G), auto focus, auto brightness, macro , VGA video recording with trimming features, and finally the amazing Touch to Focus (patented by Apple and copied by Samsung and all the other mobile phone manufactures).

You also get a compass app, voice memos and Voice Over (a primitive version of Siri).

The iPhone 3Gs came in 16 and 32GB version with a latter 8GB added when the iPhone 4 was launched back in 2010. All the models except the 8GB came in Black and White, which was an improvement from the iPhone 3G were the only way to get the white model was to buy the 16GB version.

Grand Theft Auto 4 Unboxing [PS3]

Unboxing Grand Theft Auto 4 (GTA 4) for the PlayStation 3

Grand Theft Auto 4 or simply abbreviated as GTA 4 is one of the most popular games of all time.

Each game in the popular franchise tells the story of a popular villain who wants to get a better life in the "New World". However, what's so special about this game is that you get this so called "Free Room" meaning that you can explore the City at you own will, without having to follow certain quests that allow you to explore a limited area in the City, like in other games. Of course that you have a main story which you have to follow in order to unlock different ares inside the City (which you can only access by helicopter otherwise). BUT you also have some side missions which you can do anytime you want and add an extra bit of taste to your gameplay.

What's more, there are dozens of things you can do while exploring the neighbourhood, things like stealing cars, robbing and killing people, flying planes, riding motorcycles, getting a hot date and so on.... Basically all the things you get to do in real life only with a few exceptions (hey this is not The Sims you know...)

So again, I highly suggest getting this game if you haven't already done so. You get up to 50 hours of single player! YEAH 50... I know right? INSANE!!!

But guess WHAT? You also get MULTIPLAYER!!! Which can get you hundreds  of more hours of gameplay!

Cheers!

Call of Duty: Black Ops Unboxing

Unboxing Call of Duty: Black Ops for the PlayStation 3

Black Ops was released back in November of 2010 and remains the BEST SELLING GAME OF ALL TIME! Yeah, you've heard me (read me actually), no game has yet to beat Black Ops's sales (as of August 2012). The following COD game, which was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, failed to surpass Black Ops in sales, so I'm pretty curious to see how will Black Ops 2 do compared to the first Black Ops game.

The game comes with 3 different game modes:

1)Campaign mode/Single player: 4 difficulty level and around 7-10h of gameplay on EACH difficulty, with bunch of collectible items to be found

2)Multiplayer mode: 50 levels and 15 prestiges with hundreds of weapons, attachments, equipment and perks, All of which provide you with a mind blowing -over a month of gameplay.

3) 4 player Co-op Zombies, in which you have to massacre infinite waves of undead nazis (yeah Nazi Zombies) and get rewarded with epic weapons that are not included in either of the other 2 game modes.

Assassin's Creed Unboxing [PS3]

Unboxing the Assassin's Creed game for the PlayStation 3

AC1 was released back in 2007 and was the 1st game of the nowadays famous franchise.

Although the game mechanics were revolutionary - the ability to climb any building you liked in the game, while remaining hidden in the shadows - the game was one of the most boring game that I have ever played. You cannot buy any sort of gear, and you only have 4 different types of missions which you have to repeat over and over again, in order to assassinate 10 different people.

Apart from this, the game is amazing and is a must buy, in order for you to take full advantage of the astonishing story telling found in the following Assassin's Creed games.

Apple iPad 3 (New iPad 2012/3rd gen iPad) Unboxing and Tour

Unboxing the 3rd generation iPad (New iPad 2012) also knows as the iPad 3

The new iPad features the amazing Retina Display, a super high resolution display with even better color reproduction. The screen has 264ppi and a resolution of 2048-by-1536, which is truly mind-blowing.

Besides the screen, the new iPad also features an improved camera (upgraded to 5 MPX from the 0.7 MPX camera found in the iPad 2)-the new camera uses the SAME OPTICS found in the iPhone 4S. The only difference is the camera sensor which is only a 5MPX one, compared to the 8MPX found in the iPhone 4S.
The new camera can also record in 1080p full hd, which is a nice boost from the old 720p HD video recording found in the old iPad. Also, the new camera can now autofocus but unfortunately it cannot detect faces yet (as of August 2012).

Besides the camera and the screen, the new iPad features a faster 4G LTE network, with speeds of up to 10x faster, the ones the 3G connectivity used to push to the iPad. The 4G LTE network has the exact same speeds as your home WiFi network, or as in some cases-even faster speeds.

Unfortunately, Siri is not present in the new iPad (iPad 3). However, there is the Voice Dictation feature which is also present in the iPhone 4S.

Besides all this, you get the new A5X processor, with a dual core 1GHz CPU and Quad Core graphics.

!!! The iPad 3 matches the Playstation 3 and surpasses the Xbox 360 in graphics quality!!!

The battery life is not affected by the Retina Display, only because Apple packed 70% more battery than in the iPad 2, which results in the same battery life and yeah...a hotter machine unfortunately.

God of War 3 Unboxing [PS3]

Unboxing the God of War 3 Game of Playstation 3

GoW3 was released in March 2011, and is the last part out of the God Of War trilogy.

It utilises 100% of the PS3's Cell CPU, which only a few games do. This means that the game looks amazing, exactly like Crysis (e.g.) on high end 2012 gaming PC's. Also, since it's fully optimised to work on the PS3, it has no lag and no bugs that I recall.

Anyway, I hope you liked my GoW3 Unboxing video!

Unboxing the Assassin's Creed Brotherhood game for the PlayStation 3

Now, although this is the 3rd game from the series, it's not Assassin's Creed 3. WHy not? well a new number added next to the title of the game means a new assassin and a new era, such as Jerusalem in AC1 with Alair as the protagonist and Italy in Ac2 and AcB with Ezio Auditore as the protagonist.

The game was released in November of 2010 and includes the game, a black and white manual and some Exclusive Content (only for the PS3).

Now, this is the standard edition of the game, and includes the disc, a black and white manual all wrapped inside a plastic case.

Mw2 was the best selling game of all time, up until 2010 when Call of Duty Black Ops, or Call of Duty 7 was released. Black Ops REMAINS the best selling game of all time, just because Call of Duty 8: Modern Warfare 3 didn't manage to surpass it sale wise.

SSD vs HDD (Samsung 830 SSD vs 5400 rpm HDD)

Comparing an SSD (Solid State Drive) with a standard 5400 rpm HDD (Hard Disk Drive)

The disks used in this video were: a Samsung 830 128 GB SSD and an Apple branded 320 GB HDD (made by Hitachi) found in all baseline Mac models.

Tests:

1) Boot time HDD:1m 30s SSD:13.3s (7x faster)

2) Shut down time HDD: 5.3s SSD:1.5s(3.5x faster)

3) Sleep time HDD:16.3s SSD:7s(2.3x faster)

Waking up from sleep HDD 5.2s (not in the video) SSD 1.1s (5x faster)

4) Opening 167 apps HDD 30min SSD 3min (10x faster)

5) Copy/Duplicate/Compressing time Copying a 1GB file: HDD 48s SSD 6s (8x faster) Compressing(archiving) a 1GB file: HDD 1m SSD 50s

!!! While compressing a file, the CPU is the sole component that does the job, which means that the faster your CPU is, the faster a file will compress. The drive is only helping the CPU write the file (which is the 10s difference between the SSD and the HDD).

6) Black Magic Speed test:
HDD: Write 29mb/s Read 29mb/s
SSD: Write 307mb/s (10x faster) Read 452 mb/s(15.5x faster)

Formats: HDD 4 SSD 61 (15x more writable formats)

7)Battery

HDD up to 10h of wireless browsing (10% brightness)
SSD up to 12h of wireless browsing (2h improvement)

8)Movement:
HDD extremely sensible to movement, drops, shock
SSD immune to any sort of moment, including drops and shock

9)Noise: the SSD is completely silent

10) Price: 40$-120$-xxx

MacBook Pro SSD and RAM Upgrade

Upgrading my 2011 MacBook Pro stock HDD -320 GB/5400rpm- to a Samsung 830 Series SSD -128GB- and the RAM memory from 4 GB (1333 Mhz) to 8 GB (Corsair 1333 Mhz)

NOTE: This tutorial works on ALL unibody MacBook Pros (all the models beginning from 2008)

TOOLS YOU'LL NEED:

- Philips (PH) #00 screwdriver for taking the back cover off

- Torx T6 screwdriver for removing the HDD mounting screws

Upgrading my 2011 MacBook Pro stock HDD -320 GB/5400rpm- to a Samsung 830 Series SSD -128GB- and the RAM memory from 4 GB (1333 Mhz) to 8 GB (Corsair 1333 Mhz)

NOTE: This tutorial works on ALL unibody MacBook Pros (all the models beginning from 2008)

TOOLS YOU'LL NEED:

- Philips (PH) #00 screwdriver for taking the back cover off

Link: http://www.ifixit.com/Tools/Phillips-00-Screwdriver/IF145-006

- Torx T6 screwdriver for removing the HDD mounting screws

Link: http://www.ifixit.com/Tools/T6-Torx-Screwdriver/IF145-004

HOW TO DO IT:

1) Turn off your MBP and let it cool down for at least 10 min, before taking the back cover off. DON'T forget to take out ANY connected devices (such as USB dongles/receivers)

2) Remove all of the 10 screws holding the back cover (3 long 14.4 mm screws and 7 short 3.5 mm screws) and take the back cover off.

3) Touch a metal surface (such as the optical drive) in your MBP to discharge any static energy from your body. This is a really important step, because otherwise it can damage the internal components of your MacBook Pro.

RAM UPGRADE:

1) Buy 2 RAM modules of the same frequency as your stock RAM. To check out your frequency, go to Apple-About This Mac and you should see your required RAM memory.

DUAL CHANNEL setup: Don't forget to buy 2 RAM modules instead of just 1. By filling both of the RAM modules inside your MBP, it will perform much faster than with just 1 filled module.

2) Take out your old RAM modules by pressing the levers onwards( sideways) and gently take out your RAM. Repeat the process with the 2nd RAM module.

3) Now insert your new RAM modules by holding them at a 40 degree angle (and no, you don't have to measure it :P ) and again, GENTLY insert your RAM into the RAM slots.

HDD UPGRADE:

!!!!! Before buying a new driver, be sure to check your motherboard drive connector!!! Modern SSD's support speeds of up to 6GB/s (SATA 3), so you should make sure your laptop supports SATA 3, before buying a new SATA 3 drive. Otherwise you'll just end up with a slower SSD/HDD than advertised.

1) Buy a faster and a more spacious HDD, such as a 500 GB Velociraptor 7200 RPM HDD. I highly suggest buying an SSD instead, because they are EXTREMELY FAST, they are DEAD SILENT, they are immune to drops and/or movement and finally , you get about 2h of more battery.

2) Remove the plastic bracket holding the stock HDD in place, by unscrewing the 2 recessed screws using your Philips #00 screwdriver. Also, remove the plastic tab holing the hard driver in place and attach it to your new drive.

3)Take out your old drive and remove the mounting screws using the Torx T6 screwdriver. After that, mount them to your new drive and put it in place. Don't forget to connect the SATA 3 connector and you're good to go.

RECOVERING YOUR DATA:

A) You own a 2011 or newer MBP and an external HDD.

All you have to do is backup your MBP to the external HDD through Time Machine. After switching the HDD all you have to do is boot it up while holding the Cmd+R keys. This will bring up the Recovery Mode and you'll be able to download OS X Lion/Mountain Lion from Apple's Servers and restore your data from your backup, once the download and install has finished (this usually takes up to 1h).

B) You own a 2011 or newer MBP but you DO NOT have an external HDD or any kind of backing up device.

What you want to do is buy an external HDD enclosure. This lets you connect your new driver to your MBP through USB (so it's basically an SATA to USB adapter).
The next step is to clone your internal HDD to your new one, using an App called Carbon Copy Cloner.

Links: External-HDD-enclosure: http://tinyurl.com/External-HDD-enclosureCarbon Copy Cloner: http://www.bombich.com

C) You DO NOT own a 2011 or newer MacBook Pro

Method 1) Follow Step B) and buy an external HDD enclosure.

Method 2) Make a bootable Lion/Mountain Lion drive and restore from your time machine backup.
